Ralph Blanco and Shane Nesbitt both grew up together on the West Side of Youngstown, OH. Ralph and Shane have been friends since elementary school and graduated together from Chaney High School in 1988.
Jumping 30 years later, they have partnered together to open Castaway Craig’s Pub & Grub, a family restaurant with a beach inspired atmosphere on the beautiful shore of Craig Beach.
Ralph and Shane are looking forward to serving the Lake Milton community and are thankful to the Craig Beach Village area for opening their arms and home for us and making it easy for us to bring business to the area.
There’s a reason for the Cuban food and it’s the wonderful story of Ricardo and Zenaida Blanco.
Ricardo Blanco was born on January 30th, 1928 in the little city of Yaguajay (Yawahi), Cuba. He was the oldest of 9 children with 5 brothers and 3 sisters where they were all raised on a farm.
Zenaida Donates was born in 1932 in the city of Havana, Cuba. She was raised a city girl and the youngest of 9 children with 7 brothers and 1 sister.
Ricardo, at the young age of 24, moved to the city of Havana to find work. With no connections, he found work in a small grocery store. Little did he know that grocery store is where he’d meet the love of his life, Zenaida, who happened to live across the street from the store. In November 1958, the couple journeyed to America just before the Cuban Revolution started in January 1959. Ricardo and Zenaida began their new life in America with the birth of 3 children in the greatest country in the world.
Unfortunately both Ricardo and Zenaida have since passed but our Cuban dishes are inspired and dedicated to the legacy of their hard work, love for God, family, and country.
