Cuban Born – American Made – Paradise Bound

There’s a reason for the Cuban food and it’s the wonderful story of Ricardo and Zenaida Blanco.

Ricardo Blanco was born on January 30th, 1928 in the little city of Yaguajay (Yawahi), Cuba. He was the oldest of 9 children with 5 brothers and 3 sisters where they were all raised on a farm.

Zenaida Donates was born in 1932 in the city of Havana, Cuba. She was raised a city girl and the youngest of 9 children with 7 brothers and 1 sister.

Ricardo, at the young age of 24, moved to the city of Havana to find work. With no connections, he found work in a small grocery store. Little did he know that grocery store is where he’d meet the love of his life, Zenaida, who happened to live across the street from the store. In November 1958, the couple journeyed to America just before the Cuban Revolution started in January 1959. Ricardo and Zenaida began their new life in America with the birth of 3 children in the greatest country in the world.

Ricardo unfortunately passed in 2015 but is now waiting in Paradise for his family to join him. The Cuban dishes are inspired and dedicated to the legacy of hard work, love for God, family, and country.
